Mr Kiron Bhatia

MBBS, MMedSci(Surg), FRACS Surgeon

Kiron is a general, specialist upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgeon.

He is Director of Heidelberg Weight Loss Surgery and has a keen interest in minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic (key-hole), Da Vinci robotic surgery and single incision laparoscopic surgery. He is a founding member of OSSANZ, IFSO and ANZGOSA being experienced in adjustable gastric banding, gastric bypass, mini gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy.

Kiron is a strong advocate of the benefits of multidisciplinary bariatric management and is proud of the team at HWLS. He passionately believes in the management of obesity and you will find him to be affable and very approachable.

Kiron is a member of the Austin hospital UGI/Bariatric unit and is actively involved in research, developing management protocols and outcomes assessment tools. He is also actively involved in the training of junior surgeons and nurses at the Austin hospital and believes appropriate training to be pivotal in the future direction of surgery

Kiron Bhatia

I completed my surgical training at St Vincents Hospital, Melbourne in 2007 with subsequent post fellowship training in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery in Melbourne and Tokyo, Japan.

My practice includes expertise in minimally invasive, Da vinci robotic and laparoscopic surgery dealing with General Surgery, Interventional Endoscopy (including Apollo Overstitch), Cholecystectomy, Hernia, Reflux, Oesophago-gastric cancer and Weight Loss Surgery.

I am based at the Austin Hospital as my public appointment with my private practice servicing Warringal Private Hospital, Northpark Private Hospital and Knox Private Hospital in Northern Eastern metropolitan Melbourne, Australia
